Nordic bath or wooden spa? Two wellness paths by Storvatt. Find out which one suits your lifestyle and helps you truly unwind.
The Nordic bath and the wooden spa are two distinct wellness experiences. Different in style, in sensation, and in function — yet they both offer something rare: a moment for yourself.
The Origins of the Nordic Bath: Simplicity from the North Born in the cold climates of Canada and Scandinavia, the Nordic bath is a symbol of calm, connection, and elemental comfort. It first appeared in France nearly 30 years ago, thanks to Storvatt — a brand founded in 1997 in Megève. As the first to introduce this concept to the French market, Storvatt remains true to its roots, crafting each piece with precision and passion, right in the heart of the Alps.
A Modern Twist on Deep Relaxation While spas are a more recent invention, their evolution took a major leap in the 1970s with the introduction of hydrotherapy jets. By combining woodcraft expertise with modern massage systems, Storvatt created a spa concept unlike any other — one that blends technology with tradition, comfort with authenticity.
Western Red Cedar Both Nordic baths and wooden spas are made from solid Western Red Cedar — a wood prized for its thermal insulation, natural durability, and unmistakable aroma. At Storvatt, we hand-assemble every piece in France using local labor and no chemical treatment. The result? A high-end, low-maintenance product that respects both your body and the environment.
Fire, Water, and Stillness Powered by an aluminum cast stove (patented, 40 kW), the traditional Nordic bath heats up efficiently without electricity. It’s silent, natural, and deeply immersive. For a more plug-and-play experience, we also offer fully electric versions (3 / 6 kW). Either way, this bath is all about simplicity — no pumps, no bubbles, just hot water and firewood. It’s the closest you’ll get to bathing in nature without stepping into a river.
Massage Meets Ritual While it shares the same cedar body as the Nordic bath, the wooden spa adds a layer of innovation. Adjustable hydro jets (thanks to the Venturi system) provide personalized relief — gentle or powerful — depending on your mood or need. With automated filtration and temperature control, this spa is ready when you are. It’s designed for effortless, daily use — with a touch of luxury.
Where the Nordic bath reconnects you to silence and warmth, the wooden spa engages your body with massaging pressure and controlled intensity.
Both offer wellness in its purest form — tailored to your lifestyle, your rhythms, your seasons. Whether it’s relief from muscle tension, a mental escape, or simply a way to slow down… you’ll find your answer in cedar and water.
Choosing Storvatt means choosing more than just a product — it’s embracing a way of life. Designed and built in France, using time-honored techniques and materials, each bath or spa brings the mountains to your home. Whether you dream of stargazing in steaming water or warming your soul beside a crackling fire, we’ve built something that makes it possible.
