OUR
HISTORY

1994

Jan Sidérius came across a Nordic bath heated by a wood fire in Alaska.

Intrigued by the concept, he decided to buy it for his chalet in Les Gets, Haute-Savoie, at an altitude of 1300m. It was so easy to use, and his children and friends loved it. On realising how popular it was, he carried out a brief market study, and found that the concept was virtually non-existent in Europe.

1997

Jan Sidérius and Evert-Jan van Hellenberg Hubar decided to launch the Nordic bath concept, and Størvatt was born.

Europe's first showroom opened its doors in Megève, a strategic location at the crossroads between France, Switzerland and Italy, a region that attracts a huge number of tourists. Many well-known hotels have adopted the Størvatt, including the Fermes de Marie, the Chalet Hôtel du Mont d'Arbois and the Blizzard in Val d'Isère. The international clientele of these hotels enjoy a hot outdoor bath in the idyllic setting of these delightful establishments.

1998

The shop opened in Megève

At the same time, we set up a bath at the top of the Rochebrune slopes, in full view of the skiers. The Nordic bath was a real hit with the children in the mountain restaurant, who are now adults

2014

Previously a joiner at Storvatt, Franck MUFFAT-JEANDET was appointed Managing Director.

With his attachment to the company, he gave Storvatt a new lease of life by being a source of innovation.

"Ever since I was a child, I've loved working with wood, and I've been living out this passion for over 20 years.

In 1997, at the end of a first professional carpentry experience, I crossed paths with two entrepreneurs who were in the process of launching a product that was still relatively unknown in Europe: the wooden Nordic bath.

Fifteen years later, now the sole owner of the brand, I decided to take a strategic and industrial turn, with the aim of manufacturing 100% French products, 100% from the Rhône-Alpes region.

Since then, thanks to collective enthusiasm, the spa and sauna have naturally been added to our range of outdoor wood products. More than a job, my profession is a passion, a passion for combining talents and meeting new people.

See you soon!"
