Nordic Baths and Storvatt Spas, Maintenance Tips

Discover how to maintain your Storvatt wooden Nordic bath or spa with simple tips for clean water and optimal longevity.

Spa encastré Storvatt

Maintaining a Størvatt Nordic bath or wooden spa requires a few regular steps: balancing the pH, adjusting filtration, renewing the water, and showering before bathing. The wood itself requires no special maintenance. Here's how to keep the water clean and enjoy your Størvatt with complete peace of mind.

Wood that requires no special maintenance

Størvatt products are made from Western Red Cedar Clear 2, a high-quality red cedar. This wood is naturally antifungal, rot-proof, and has excellent dimensional stability. You can learn more about our premium materials, including our 5-year warranty on wood.

The bulk of maintenance therefore concerns the water and filtration system.

The right steps for maintaining your Nordic bath

Adjusting pH levels

The pH value plays an essential role in water treatment. A well-balanced pH allows active treatment to be effective, ideally at 7.2.

Adapting filtration cycles

The filtration duration depends on frequency of use and water temperature. To calculate it, use the following formula: filtration time = (water temperature / 2) + 1 hour.

Clean the filter approximately once a week: it can itself become a refuge for bacteria. Use a specific product, or soak it in bleached water before rinsing it with a high-pressure water jet.

Renew the water every 3 months maximum

When you change the water in the tub, take the opportunity to clean the interior walls with a soft sponge and slightly bleached water.

Take a shower before entering the bath

A quick shower limits the introduction of impurities (sunscreen, perspiration, etc.) and makes water maintenance easier.

Use shock treatment after heavy use

A "chlorine-free shock" or "shock chlorine" helps keep water healthy and limits bacterial proliferation after intensive use.
